Day Visit Program

One of the most beneficial programs that Western New England College's Admissions Office presents for prospective students is the Accepted Students Day Visit Program. I am happy to report that the Day Visit Program is nearly upon us for the 2011 season! What is the Day Visit Program you ask? This is an exciting opportunity for our accepted students to spend a day on our beautiful campus literally seeing what it is like to be a WNEC student for a day. Our staff will match up accepted students with current students by major, so these high schoolers can attend classes that may be on their schedule in a few years. Accepted students will follow our current students to their classes, lunch at the dining hall, as well as any extracurricular activities they may be involved in. If high school accepted students are interested in athletics, there will be opportunities to meet with the coaches of each sport during the visit.

The dates for 2011 are February 14-25 and April 11-21, Monday-Friday. All interested accepted students are encouraged to call the Admissions Office at 413-782-1321 to reserve their spot for this fantastic opportunity! We ask that students call at least two weeks prior to their intended visit date in order to reserve a spot for the program. We hope to see you all on campus soon so you can walk in a Golden Bears' shoes for the day!

Top 30 Fastest-Growing Jobs by 2018

Hey everyone I was doing some reading in today's Boston Globe and came across an interesting piece on the top 30 fastest-growing jobs by 2018. I have attached the link so you can check out what industries will be booming by 2018. It is noteworthy to point out that the number one fastest growing job is a major that Western New England College has. I'll let you check out the link to see what was number one, as well as the rest of the top 30. Enjoy!

Happy New Year from Snowy Western New England!

Even though it is a little late, happy new year to everyone out there! If you live in the Northeastern part of the United States, chances are your backyard looks a little something like the picture above. That picture was taken just a few moments ago so you can see how our area was blanketed with snow. The College was actually closed on Wednesday (I love how I can have a snow day even though I'm not in school anymore!) while maintenance workers had to plow throughout the day just make the school "drivable" for Thursday. There is also a noticeable buzz around here because our students will be making their way back to campus this weekend for the start of second semester! Hard to believe how fast time has gone this year! For all you high schoolers out there, chances are you are nearing or are currently at your midterm point. For those of you who are taking midterms, good luck! It is very important to remember that even if you have already applied to colleges with your first quarter senior year grades, whatever college you attend will receive a final copy of your transcript, so slacking off is prohibited! That's all for now but keep checking our student and counselor blogs in the coming week for more exciting WNEC news!
